LA Escape [Hotel Bel-Air]

Hotel Bel-Air  is an iconic LA refuge set back on a winding canyon road. If you're looking for a peaceful retreat within the bustling city, this is it.

I arrived just before dusk and the beauty of the landscaped gardens and glamorous lobby left me stunned. For one night, I could pretend I was living in old Hollywood.

My room had a balcony that overlooked a fountain and winding pathways of lush flowers. Inside, it was dark and chic. I settled in with a bath and room service and then fell fast asleep in the plush bed.

The hotel provided a plate of fresh fruit which I enjoyed on my balcony the next morning.

Then I took a stroll to the updated fitness center and spa. The fitness center is compact, but has everything you need and killer views!

The La Prairie spa was added on when Hotel Bel-Air was renovated in 2011. It's every bit as glamorous as the rest of the property.

I relaxed in the mosaic steam room, sipped tea on the patio, and most importantly, experienced an incredible massage that made me turn to mush. It is on my list of top spas. Definitely worth the splurge if you're in LA!

It's easy to get lost wandering around the property, but I doubt you'll mind. With over 12 acres of landscaped gardens and their very own Swan Lake, it's the perfect place to get away and unwind.

After a leisurely breakfast (plenty of gluten-free options!) at the Wolfgang Puck restaurant, it was sadly time to leave.

I had such a lovely stay, but it was entirely too short, and I hope to get back soon (Saturday morning yoga on the lawn, anyone?)!

The second part of my trip was spent at The Beverly Hills Hotel, which is also part of the Dorchester Collection, but has a totally different atmosphere. Post coming soon!

Have you stayed at a Dorchester Collection property before?
