My first job out of college, there was one woman in particular who took me under her wing and provided guidance in my new corporate world. Eight years later, she's still on my personal board of directors. Always there to listen and give advice. It's those kinds of connections I hope Uncork Events will help to foster.
I was thrilled when she registered for the Uncork floral arranging workshop. When we met a few days after and she told me about the event from her perspective, I knew she was the one who could best write this recap post.
Event Recap: Floral Arranging + Dinner at Tiny's No. 5,
by K. Holmquist, Poten & Partners
My first event with Uncork was the flower arranging event. I was a bit apprehensive since networking events aren’t normally my cup of tea. Immediately upon arrival, I was put at ease. The ambiance in the room was wonderful. There were candles and beautiful place settings with flowers at each seat along with a personalized note from Christie. Champagne was immediately offered, a great way to relax anyone.
Christie was a wonderful host, introducing everyone and starting conversations. During the first hour we enjoyed champagne and conversation. The women I met were amazing. All professionals, we had one, important thing in common: that we work in energy. Being a woman in the energy industry isn’t always easy. We have many experiences in common, and it was great to exchange stories.
There was a lot of laughter and the conversation was fun. The flower arranging itself was really interesting. We each made our own arrangement, following the direction of the instructor. Following the flower arrangements, we had dinner. The dinner was lovely, Christie ordered small plates which we all shared.
We all continued to talk, giving each other support, laughter and advice. It was what networking always should be. I was so impressed with the event. Christie set up an elegant space and a luxurious experience for the attendees. I had such a great time that I signed up for the next event the next week.
Uncork is really a treat for a relaxing and luxurious experience with professional women in the energy industry. The event felt very safe, and it was easy to feel at ease and address some of the issues women in energy face every day. I can’t wait to go to my next one.
Special thanks to Divya Pande for the beautiful photos, and to all of the ladies who attended! If you'd like the floral designer's contact information, please email me. She was wonderful and made it so simple. You can also read a recap on Sunday Beach, a blog by Lauren Mills.
