On my way to Formentera, I stopped in Barcelona for a couple days to see some of the city.
Hotel Primero Primera is a family-owned boutique hotel in Barcelona. It's tucked away in the Tres Torres neighborhood, far from the hustle and bustle of the main tourist areas. If you like to really experience a place like a local, this hotel is for you. You'll see parents walking their children to school in the morning and professionals whiz by on their scooters in the evening.
It's decorated beautifully, the beds are comfortable, and the breakfast buffet was full of fresh fruit, croissants, meats and cheeses. But what really makes this hotel stand out is the service you'll receive from the ladies working the front desk. They all saved me on numerous occasions (this was my first trip to Europe and I had too many questions!).
It was a quick trip, so below isn't a comprehensive list by any means, but I do want to share some places that I recommend if you're ever in Barcelona:
Lunch: Parking Pizza - Super fresh ingredients top fresh-made dough at this hip (in a good way) spot with community tables
Dinner: ABaC - The most memorable dining experience I think I'll ever have! Each course is a production. Splurge for the wine pairings
Spa: Mandarin Oriental - Combat jet lag with a steam + swim, followed by the Oriental Essence massage and Linda Meredith Haute Couture facial. You will not regret it
See: Picasso Museum, Park Guell, Sagrada Familia, Montjuic
